Artist Interview

Q: Describe your exhibition in 5 words? Semi-controversial, street-art-inspired, loose, chaotic, raw.

Q: How did you get inspired to create all the pieces? A few months ago I happened to find my painting mojo again and started painting and stenciling. Everywhere I went, I looked for inspiration in street art, magazines, advertising propaganda, tattoo shops, people I met, different sorts of graf work. I set myself a time limit and started painting, and started looking for a location that would suit my style.

Q: When you're making/ creating art - what thoughts are in your head? Hmmm, everything and anything. I tend to zone out and focus on what I’m doing although I stress and have little wig outs at times when things aren’t turning out how I want them.

Q: Mentor/ idol/ artistic guru you're inspired by? I’m very much inspired by modern street artists like Banksy, Lister and older artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Pro Hart. I’m inspired by everyone I meet who is willing to show me or teach me a new skill. I like to surround myself with people who think outside the box and aren’t afraid of trying different things.

‘Street Art and Photography Exhibition - Skullcap Designs’ runs until Sept 26 at 5 Light St, VALLEY.
