ARCHIE [30:01:08]
SHIFTING UNITS
One of the country's most popular and in-demand DJs, Archie will be returning to Brisbane to launch the latest in the Central Energy series.
So what's been happening?
Well so far the beginning of the year has been rather busy for me. I have been flat out working on lots of new music. A couple of new trance remixes on the go and also a few new house bits that I have just finished for a few different labels. Also I am just in the middle of doing another mix CD for Central Station. I'm mixing the new God's Kitchen CD - which is a house & electro mix for some thing different.
How long does it take to compile a new Central Energy release?
Generally a compilation can take a good few months to put together. Firstly, you submit a wish list for the tracks that you would like to use. This process is sometimes unpredictable as certain tracks may get approved in the space of a few days or can take several weeks. Once you have your final track list approved, I usually spend a good few days working out the order and flow of the CD. Once I'm happy with that then I can usually have the CD mixed and handed in within the next few days.
So do you ever go out to clubs socially or is it strictly work?
Yeah, by all means, I like to go out every now and then to see other DJs play. Usually it will be an International DJ that I admire but as I have a lot of other mates that DJ as well, if I have a night off or if I have finished up for the night then I don't mind going to another club for a few drinks. I think it's important to see what else is going on outside your weekly gig circuit.
Betty or Veronica?
Hmmm, good question. How about a little from Column A and a little from Column B.
Do you see much variation in clubs and crowds around the country or is it largely homogenised?
Well to be honest, there are a few cities on the same page, but it's hard to compare each place to the next. There are obvious differences like fashion, clubs and crowds sizes but that's what makes traveling from city to city so interesting.
