BLOODY BEETROOTS [10:10:07]
IN UR INTERNETS
Italy’s Bloody Beetroots have well and truly embraced Web 2.0. With their presence (and remixes) all over Myspace and Flickr, they’re heading to Australia for Lick It’s first birthday bash.
What’s been happening lately, fill us in?
Lately we are travelling around a lot, we are in contact with some labels that are still to be revealed, a remix will be in the soundtrack of EA Games ‘Need for Speed Pro Street’. We could also tell you that in the next season of CSI:Miami there might be another surprise.
Do you notice much difference in terms of the crowd and the music when you play in different regions around the world or is it all quite homogenous?
The response of the crowd in the clubs and venues where we play is quite warm, basically we come to pump it up to a hotter point. Last time we played the people was jumpin’ on our backs and kissing each other.
How do you go about constructing a remix, do you have a set formula you follow or do you approach each track individually?
According to the BBs each remix is a point of view on the track itself. We look very much into harmonies as it’s the thing that makes us feel better, and we believe that is the same feeling that the listener would like to receive.
So you obviously have a good online presence, how important has that been in your success?
Fun-da-mental!
Where do you like to hang out online aside from your own Myspace site?
We hang around a lot outside our own Myspace. If we find a project sound//idea/picture, etc worth supporting we ask to take it onboard, for this reason you basically always know where we put our hands.
Where do you stand in the Myspace vs Facebook argument?
They are both social networks, free, so we stand for both. Also, because they stand for different objectives/initiatives, for example we find Flickr another extension of this kind of universe.
Nice artwork - I especially liked the Simpsons image on your Myspace page - who does your artwork?
Turbokrapfen has the turbo charge in! He’s part of the gang and you will hear his name more and more in the next future.
And speaking of artwork, how important is it to have a complete image ready to go - I mean, the music, the artwork, etc?
Image and music are strictly connected. You will see better what we mean when we’ll be in OZ.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
We both had bloody experiences in our lives, after street accidents. We don’t have bionic arms, but we still are superheroes, cos’ we’re still alive.
And Where did the name come from, what does it mean?
The list is quite long, surely the reason is that it links the two characters of Bob Rifo and Tommy Tea. Naturally it’s one of our favourite dishes together with chicken voodoo juice.
Official releases that people can pick up?
All has been looted online! There are actually releases mainly on vinyl, and keep an eye on the bootlegs. We always suggest people to pop by Google and check the blogs, they are our main source of contact.
