It is about a young, successful AFL player who appears to have it all but is really hiding a controversial secret — he likes to dress as a woman. As we watch his addiction spiral out of control, the people in his life begin to show their true colours. The production was a team effort with the combination of all elements making for an excellent show. The play was presented on a revolving stage that took the audience to multiple locations: a lounge room, a manager's office, a nightclub which created a fast-paced, frenetic feel that kept the energy high. The small cast of five was fabulous, skilfully navigating the highs and lows of the story with a deft approach and creating characters that were relatable and lovable. The whole production was filled with farce and there were laughs from start to finish making for a night out that was both entertaining and engrossing.
'Managing Carmen' is being staged at the Playhouse QPAC until November 4.
